Google nearly doubled profits from last quarter, but how long can it streak of good luck last? Until something better comes along. Google has become such a fixture in society that it is going to take something major to oust it from dominance. Maybe it will be MSN's new engine. Maybe it'll be an engine that is being developed under our radar. Remember, Google was started as a college project. Youll never know where the next big thing is coming from until its too late.|W|P|110087757436575619|W|P|BBC NEWS | Business | Google warns sales growth to slow|W|P|joemabraham@gmail.com11/15/2004 09:23:00 AM|W|P|joe|W|P|Sorry I didn't post this big news sooner. This is huge news in the world of search. Google claims it can now contains "...dozens of file types from HTML to PDF, including PowerPoint, Flash, PostScript and JavaScript." So I put it to the test. Anyone who knows me well knows of my love for Flash cartoons, so I Googled my favorite, Homestar Runner. A normal search revealed no new entries in the top ten for my favorite toon, but searching "site:http://www.homestarrunner.com" revealed something exciting. Lots of partially indexed pages all marked [FLASH]. I did some more searches and results were consistent. This is exciting but disappointing all at the same time. It's great that Google can at least see Flash pages and .swf files, but it isn't ranking them well. Hopefully, the Big G will improve this. |W|P|110052863162200167|W|P|Google's index nearly doubles. |W|P|joemabraham@gmail.com
