The SageRock Jagger Update

In continuing with the ideas in this post: Top 20 Results for the phrase: Web Marketing I thought I might show you some actual hard numbers for the SageRock web site, so you can see the changes that the site went through since October. I've put together a small table showing the number of referrers SageRock received from August through December in Google, Yahoo and MSN. Here are the stats:
Engine August September October November December
Google 1956 2084 1277 743 834
Yahoo 178 208 303 446 568
MSN 170 215 168 194 175
Total 2304 2507 1748 1383 1577
I was interested in showing you my Google numbers in relation to Yahoo and MSN. In particular, notice the spread between the numbers in August and September. We received 10 times the traffic from Google as we did in Yahoo and MSN. That was the spread we've seen for quite some time. I realize that difference is way above the stated percentage of market share numbers we all see. But honestly, that kind of spread is not unusual from anything we see with our clients. So, when October hit, the change was quite a shock. I also find it interesting that our Yahoo traffic is continually increasing while MSN is staying stagnant and we can see what Google is doing. Google is increasing as well. But it's still less than half of what we had in September. I'm not sure how fast to act with changes to do on the site. When I do a backlink check in Google, I'm still seeing the sitewide links we had on some other sites. I realize those links are not a true representation of what Google is seeing. But I'm not sure what the representation really is. Yahoo Site Explorer is supposed to be more accurate and I'm still seeing old links in their Inlink section. So, my instinct is that we need to wait for Google to do a true link update. And then see if that has an effect. I'm seriously debating wrapping all of my external links so I don't look to be giving any PageRank to anybody. I'm not sure what kind of monstrous job that would be. I think I'll go respider SageRock right now and make a list of them. As an aside, I highly suggest Xenu's Link Sleuth as a great, free way to spider your site. I apparently can't stop giving away links :)
